Tiger Stadium

Detroit’s Tiger Stadium, home to the Tigers for 88 seasons and the Lions for 37 seasons, had fallen into disrepair after nine years of neglect.

Demolition of a city landmark is not a job to be entered into lightly. The Farrow Group formed a joint venture with MCM Management Corp., one of the country’s largest demolition firms to ensure the historic sports venue was demolished with the respect it deserved.

Michael Farrow and MCM owners established a “community outreach” program and personally met with neighboring residents and businesses before and during the job. They received nothing but compliments from start to end.

They insisted on apprentice operators, thereby providing needed jobs to a segment of Detroit residents hard hit by unemployment. To reinforce the respect by all workers, everyone on the job site wore hard hats the color of Tiger caps with the Tiger’s distinctive “D” on the front.

In the end, 95 percent of the 15 tons taken from the site were recycled.
